چکیده

Using a cellular automata approach we create models of people movement within buildings. Simple, local update rules capturing the movement of individuals are shown to produce realistic behaviour of crowds, that is, collections of individuals. We demonstrate how distinct crowd behaviour at constriction points is characterised using different update rules. These distinct rules are produced in an experimental manner; we utilise a simulation environment to examine various crowd movement scenarios with the resulting crown dynamics being revealed by graphical animation.

Modelling Non-linear Crowd Dynamics in Bio-PEPA

Emergent phenomena occur due to the pattern of non-linear and distributed local interactions between the elements of a system over time. Surprisingly, agent based crowd models, in which the movement of each individual follows a limited set of simple rules, often re-produce quite closely the emergent behaviour of crowds that can be observed in reality. An example of such phenomena is the spontan...

The State-of-the-art in Modelling of Crowd Behaviour in Panic Situation

This paper presents an insight of the review on crowd behaviour in panic situation and crowd modelling. The crowd behaviour discussed in this paper will observe the state-of-the-art in crowd reaction pattern during emergency outbreak in which the model and simulation will be constructed and considered based on the cited papers. Additionally, the sociological behaviour of individual in the crowd...

Investigating Crowd Behaviour during Emergency Evacuations Using Agent-Based Modelling

In the present paper we argue that the effectiveness of interventions/design solutions supporting emergency evacuation of crowds in socio-technical systems, depends on the appropriateness of the models used for the crowd behaviour. After reviewing basic approaches already used to model escaping crowds, the knowledge about crowd behaviour provided by modern social psychology is briefly presented...

The Dynamics of Crowds

Crowds pose an interesting example of a complex system in which emergent behaviour is observed out of the interaction of many individual agents. This behaviour can be very important in the safe design of sports and other stadia, especially in the case of possible emergency situations. For this reason crowd dynamics is of great interest to architects. The purpose of this project is to review the...

Giving Emotional Contagion Ability to Virtual Agents in Crowds

Recent advances in crowd simulation models attempt to recreate realistic human behaviour by introducing psychological phenomena in virtual agents. In this direction, psychology studies on personality traits, emotions and emotional contagion attempt to cope with emerging behaviours such as panic spreading and fight picking. This work depicts a way to introduce a model of emotional contagion in t...
